AsiaSafe www.AsiaSafe.org is an initiative by the AOSR to establish radiation safety culture and ensuring the appropriate use of radiation in medicine. The main objective of the initiative is to raise awareness among health professionals and to enhance their practice by providing recommendations and guidance on all aspects of protection from ionising radiation.
AsiaSafe was mooted circa 2017. AsiaSafe was officially launched in the all virtual 19 th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology on July 1, 2021. AsiaSafe is a member of the International Society of Radiology Quality and Safety Alliance (ISRQSA) which is the alliance created by the International Society of Radiology (ISR) to unite radiation safety campaigns. AsiaSafe’s activities will focus on enhancing awareness with safety standards, policies, procedures and activities that support the implementation of justification and optimisation principles in medical imaging and therapy. We affirm the Bonn Call for Action, published by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the World HealthOrganization (WHO) as well as the ISRQSA’s 2022 Call for Action. AsiaSafe is cooperating with the IAEA, WHO, European Society of Radiology, EuroSafe Imaging, ISR, Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and other regional organizations. We look forward to collaborating with all Asia Oceania countries to enhance radiological safety and other aspects of safety such as MR safety. |
